Thank you to all who attended our first issue release party! It was a fun-filled evening with new and old acquaintances gathering to celebrate the stories of local food and drink.

We goofed…
In case you missed our post on social media: We goofed. Perhaps we were just too pumped for the start of spring, or maybe the excitement of upcoming seed swaps and farm gatherings distracted us from the MOST IMPORTANT part of our work. Whatever the reason, despite multiple proof readings of our spring issue, we made an error and we’re here to apologize.
Our Living Local column, written by the brilliant Christina Nifong, has an errant paragraph that is not part of the column. We’ve corrected the error in our digital edition and we send our utmost apologies to Christina! (Did you know in addition to her work as a freelance journalist, she is also LEAP ‘s Director of Marketing and Communications? Check out christinanifong.com to read more of her work and try your hand at her seasonal recipes)

POEM OF THE WEEK
Spring BY GERARD MANLEY HOPKINS Nothing is so beautiful as Spring – When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush; Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing; The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling. What is all this juice and all this joy? A strain of the earth’s sweet being in the beginning In Eden garden. – Have, get, before it cloy, Before it cloud, Christ, lord, and sour with sinning, Innocent mind and Mayday in girl and boy, Most, O maid’s child, thy choice and worthy the winning.
