This weekend, as we honor Earth Day, let's not just celebrate but take action to support our planet and community. One powerful way to do this is by embracing local food and sustainable practices in our everyday lives.
🌿 Grow Your Own: Start a garden, no matter how small! Growing your own herbs, fruits, or veggies not only reduces your carbon footprint but also connects you to your home, the environment and your community.
♻️ Recycle and Upcycle: Reduce waste by recycling what you can and getting creative with upcycling projects. From composting kitchen scraps to turning old containers into planters, there are countless ways to give items a new life.
🚲 Choose Eco-Friendly Transportation: Whenever possible, opt for walking, biking, or public transportation. By reducing car usage, you're helping to cut down on emissions and air pollution.
Looking for more earth-friendly practices? Check out our events section and attend one of the many Earth Day classes and festivals happening throughout the region.

POEM OF THE WEEK
Earth Day
By Jane Yolen
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.
That’s why we
Celebrate this day.
That’s why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
